"Hello Audrey and Kathleen,

This past week after picking up M at the Field House has flown by with interviews and travel. I have not really had time to stop and process all that has happened in such a condensed period of time - but I do know that we (M and us, her family) are in a very different place than we were 8 short weeks ago.

I don't think that I can express what you two personally and the New Horizons Program in general have given to us. M is strong, she feels resilient, she is able to smile, she is able to take disappointment without being crushed, she shone at her school interviews (really knocked their socks off - by the time Pete and I entered the Admissions Office for our part of the interview, they were trying to sell us on the school because they felt she was such a good fit). This is a different child than the one that struggled to finish school in June.

We all know that the real test will come when school starts up and the pressures intensify - and I hope we remember all that this summer has taught us - but I have confidence that M will keep us in line. She now has felt the difference and is determined not to go back to that low spot.

Thank you for guiding her, Pete and I to this point. Audrey - I am sorry if I was occasionally 'over the top'. It was a real leap of faith for us to leave her with you in the parking lot in Bangor but it was worth every sleepless moment!

Kathleen - I don't know what to say except thank you. We are in your debt.
