New Horizons for Young Women is a therapy intervention program created especially for girls, by a girl. Females are our focus!

At New Horizons, we provide a six to nine-week oasis for young women ages 13-18 who are having difficulties with the transition between "little girl" and womanhood — difficulties that are acted out in many different ways. Then, we work to empower each girl, so she can confidently meet the complex challenges of today's society.

We do it by providing struggling young women with an opportunity to reflect on past decisions and future choices — and, if they choose to engage completely in our program — to discover their inner strength and the value of personal challenges and healthy relationships.

And we do it deep within the peaceful Maine woods, knowing that the beauty and challenge of nature is sometimes the best path back to a healthy life. While hiking, paddling, cross country skiing or snow shoeing among the silent, proud pines, the girls have time to really think things through — perhaps for the first time in their lives.

If there is a young woman in your life who is in need of self-reflection and empowerment through therapy and education, New Horizons for Young Women is ready to help. Call us today.

Sincerely,
Jacqueline Danforth
Founder

Typically, the girls who come to New Horizons have difficulty with self-expression, body image,    and self-esteem, are struggling with depression, motivation, academics, and relationships and have    a hard time treating themselves and others with respect.

You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.' You must do the thing you think you cannot do.

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
