We want your daughter to have the energy and equipment she needs to explore herself and her surroundings, and to get the most out of her experience at New Horizons.
That's why we provide healthy meals like eggs and toast and homemade soups and casseroles, along with plenty of fruits, vegetables, and a variety of protein sources. That's also why we ask a professional nutritionist to assess all of our menus!
New Horizons also provides clothing that is season-specific. From sunglasses and sunscreen to backpacks made just for women to long underwear, your daughter will be equipped with functional clothing designed to keep her warm and dry or cool and comfortable, depending on the
time of year.
Your daughter will sleep in shelters specific to each season: tents in the warmer months and 1000 sq ft heated bunkhouses, equipped with electricity, in the winter. While out on two to four-day winter expeditions, the girls sleep in canvas wall tents heated by wood stoves. At any time of year, the group has access to our Field House equipped with laundry facilities, infirmary
and bathhouse.
Clothing
Since New Horizons for Young Women provides all the clothing and equipment your daughter will need during her stay, we recommend that your daughter arrive with minimal supplies. (Please contact the Admissions Department regarding glasses, medications or orthodontic devices.)

Organically grown foods are an excellent source of nutrition for our girls and we at NHYW are pleased to announce that we have achieved MOFGA certification for our gardens.
| Outdoor Expeditions
Depending on the season your daughter is enrolled at New Horizons For Young Women, she'll be able to participate in a variety of activities and expeditions, from canoeing and hiking in spring, summer and fall to snow shoeing and/or cross country skiing
in the winter.
We also offer many other activities like dog sledding, martial arts, maple syrup tapping, yoga, personal safety training, drumming, wreath building, media education, and multi-culture holiday celebrations — all of which are tailored to meet most physical abilities.
